2005 Areas of specialism : Crime, Civil Actions against the Police, and International Law. Sultana joined Chambers as a tenant in October 2006 following successful completion of her pupillage at Tooks. She has a rapidly growing Crown Court practice including cases involving manslaughter (acting as junior counsel), offences of serious violence, robberies, affray, racially aggravated offences, drugs offences, fraud and other dishonesty offences. Sultana has a particular interest in cases which give rise to human rights issues. In particular, she has/ continues to represent Parliament Square protestors Brian Hawe and Barbara Tucker in relation to various offences including offences under the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act 2005, Maya Evan and Milan Rai in relation to contempt of court proceedings, and has acted for Liberty in relation to breaches of ASBOs. Sultana has a strong background in human rights, international law and anti terror work having worked for a number of leading NGOs prior to joining Chambers.
