Giles has a busy and varied Crown Court practice, appearing in trials involving a wide range of serious offences. Giles is currently instructed as junior counsel in a multi-handed case involving an alleged conspiracy to rob cash in transit vehicles. Giles recently represented one of the appellants in R v Blackshaw and others, the leading sentencing authority for offences committed during the civil disorder in August. Giles has a strong fraud practice, having been instructed in cases involving sophisticated Ponzi fraud schemes, multi-million pound credit card fraud and high-level benefit fraud. Giles also specialises in cases involving serious sexual offences, including rape and offences against children. Giles has secured a series of excellent results at the Court of Appeal in recent years, including a successful appeal against sentence in one of the widely-reported Gaza protest cases. His broad criminal practice encompasses courts martial work in the UK and abroad.
