In his Letter to the Editor of The Times published today, Michael Magarian QC asks if scrapping juries will result in more power for the police. The full text of Michael Magarian QC's letter is below ‘Sir, It is the experience of every criminal lawyer that juries are far more receptive to an argument that police officers have misbehaved than a member of the judiciary. To scrap juries will mean far less accountability, and therefore far more power, for the police. Is this what we want?' |
