Court of Appeal Upholds Rights of Kinship Carers |

Patrick Roche recently succeeded in the Court of Appeal in upholding a judgment which makes it clear that where a local authority places a child with a relative, the child is potentially a “looked after” child under the Children Act. The result is that the carers are entitled to a fostering allowance and the local authority is obliged to support the placement both financially and practically. |
