Chambers Web Site Q&A

The Chambers Web site is a key tool for showing existing and potential clients how Chambers can help them. By keeping your profile up to date and letting us know of any interesting news we can be sure the site remains engaging and useful.

How can I amend my short profile?

The short profile is a quick overview of your practice and is meant to encourage a potential reader to read your CV. Keeping your short profile up to date and relevant is therefore an important part of your own personal marketing. The quickest and easiest way to amend your short profile is to:

  1. Navigate to your personal practice page on the web site
  2. Copy and paste the existing profile description into a new mail message
  3. Amend the text of the profile as needed.
  4. Send the E-mail to Carol Thomas who will then give it a quick check before putting up on to the web site.

It is important to remember that the profile is meant to be short. It can be tempting to put lots of information into it however your main CV is where any detailed information should be put. Keeping it short and readable will provide the reader with the information they need on whether to read any more.

How can I amend my CV?

Along with your short profile you have a full CV which is where you can go into detail about your skills, experience and practice area.

The best way to amend your CV is to navigate to your personal practice page on the web site. Once there open your CV and before you do anything else, save it on to your PC in a place you can easily find it again. Next make all the amendments needed taking care to ensure you don't make your CV too long or too full of "jargon".

When you have made your amendments, attached the CV to an E-mail and send it to Carol Thomas who will then give it a quick check before putting up on to the web site.

Who do I tell about an interesting news item for the web site?

Great you have news! Keeping the web site up to date with relevant and interesting news is a good way to show how active Chambers is on a day to day basis. News items needn't just be matters that have published elsewhere, they can be anything relevant to you, your practice, your team or Chambers as a whole.

Whenever we publish a new item we will need the following from you:

  1. A title for the item - This should be short and attention grabbing
  2. A summary of the item - This is a couple of sentances which provide an overview of the main news item.
  3. The text of the item or a link to it - If you are writing the item yourself, don't worry about formatting that will be done for you. If the item is published else where, we will need the web address of the article.
  4. Any relevant or useful links - There may be other web sites that are relevant to the news item. Including those with the article adds more weight to the content and provides readers with additional information.

When you have all of those bits, send them in an E-mail to Carol Thomas who will then format the article, post it on the web site before getting you to check that every is correct.
